New Local Cable TV Program Salutes Unsung Heroes and Provides Inspiration for the Soul

Life Notes with Vera Turner, a new cable television show debuts February 3rd at 8:30 pm on Cox Cable channel 10 in Fairfax, Virginia and on Comcast Cable channel 10 in Reston, Virginia. Expanded cable coverage is planned for other jurisdictions in Virginia, as well as Prince George's County Maryland, Montgomery County Maryland, Washington, DC and Baltimore City in 2004.
The show, hosted by inspirational speaker and poet Vera Turner, recognizes individuals who are doing extraordinary work within their local communities and provides strategies for leading a more purposeful and rewarding life. Special guests are tapped from the Washington, DC metropolitan area and from across the country.
Upcoming show topics include: It takes a Village to Raise a Child,Going the Distance, HIV/AIDS, and The Magic of Words. On the guest roster are: Tom Lewis, Founder of the Fishing School; Barbara Chinn, Director of Whitman-Walker’s Max Robinson Center; Wallace Corbett, President of Brother To Brother Sister To Sister United; Justin Spring, Founder of SOULSPEAK/Sarasota Poetry Theater, Inc.; Julie Masterson, Director of the National Aids Marathon Program and Robyn Wells, a marathoner.
The show began production in late 2003, but it has been in the making for many years, in the heart and mind of Vera Turner, the Executive Producer and Host of the show. “Life Notes Television was conceived out of a life-long dream of mine to use my voice to help make a difference in the lives of others, and I am now realizing that dream. It feels awesome to know that the work I am doing is really helping to make a difference.”
