"Life Notes with Vera Turner" wins three Telly Awards: one Silver Telly for Saving Our Children Part II, one Bronze Telly for HIV/AIDS, and a second Bronze Telly for Going the Distance.
Life Notes is the brainchild of Vera Turner, who serves as Executive Producer and Host of the show. "I put a tremendous amount of hard work into each show to ensure that I produce a quality program of which I can feel proud. It is a great feeling to know that my effort is being publicly acknowledged. But, my greatest joy comes from doing work that I truly love, and from knowing that my work is helping to make a difference in the lives of others."
The award-winning Saving Our Children (the second part of a two-part special presentation) is dedicated to young people in Washington, DC and across the country who have lost their lives to gun violence. The program features organizations and individuals, who are working to make the communities and schools safer in Southeast DC.
HIV/AIDSprovides a close-up look at the devastating impact of AIDS. The show is steeped in important life lessons about courage, love, friendship, and how one faces death with dignity.
Going The Distance illustrates how one can obtain success in life by applying the same key principles used in running a marathon: commitment to a cause, self-discipline and courage.
Life Notes, which debuted in February 2004 on Cox Cable in Fairfax and on Comcast in Reston, is broadcast on seven community access stations in Northern Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia.

Vera Turner Enterprises, LLC is an Alexandria based communications company founded in October 2003, which delivers inspirational programs via video, audio and print media, and through public speaking engagements.
